Is this a floater colony? Empty Is this a floater colony?

I saw a new colony spring up on my island. The player has the #20 military score on Eta right now, so I sent a spy to check it out.

Currently the town has the following buildings, all level 1:
    - Town Hall
    - Port
    - Barracks
    - Shipyard
    - 5 x Warehouse
    - Town Wall (under construction)

Is this a floater colony in the making? Or is this player just trying to take advantage of the defensive benefit of multiple warehouses?

The player shares another island with me, where we both have mature cities. If I do get attacked, this could get interesting.

I'd say its a war camp or "floater". But if he's building it close to his other mature city than I don't see a point in it. It would be just as easy to send your military one or two islands over with out putting up a war camp.

I had something similar happen to me almost a week ago but this guy was 1/3 my mil score and his main towns were 4hours or more away. I simply sent him a message asking him what he's doing but if this guys much stronger then you i'd start moving your goods out of that town. Keep an eye on him pirat

It looks to me like a floater. It doesn't necessarily mean he's after u though.

I'm along the lines of Bullpid...why would he be coming after you? Have you had past dealings with him? I'm sure there are much better targets on that island than you.

Seems to me that some of the pillagers out there randomly place floaters on islands in order to pillage all the cities on any given island. So I would make the assumption that he/she will test everyone's defenses on that island. So I agree, consider only keeping the resources you need or keep it empty and ship supplies as needed from somewhere else. Once you get some military units built in your new city, then you won't have as many worries.

No prior dealings with this player. I did send a message "welcoming" him/her to the island but got no response. Ominously another possible floater colony from the same alliance appeared on another island shared by Ambrosiaa and me. So we'll keep close tabs on the situation.

EDIT: I just spied out the garrison on the new colony. This doesn't particularly look like an assault force to me (I would expect many more Guns and Swords and fewer defensive units). Could this just be mixed arms for multiple offensive and defensive purposes? Any opinions on this?

So through diplomacy, I learned that this IS a floater colony, but according to the player, PoG is not the intended target.

We should keep up with it just in case they do decide to "accidentally" make us targets. I will on the islands I share with them, for the time being.

It's such a benefit knowing we can trap floaters now...especially if one were trapped on an island full of PoG members.

How do you trap it? Just by keeping it blockaded or something else?

A colony cannot be abandoned if it is currently being blockaded or has ships on the way to blockade it. Generally, a schedule of blockades would be set up between alliance members so that the floater is constantly under attack, thus enabling it useless to the owner of the floater colony.

Thats what i thought. We used this tactic against Vx3 awhile back and kept one player from moving his floater to a more important target. We lost the war but it still worked for a bit lol!
