Anyone playing Fallout 3?

Anyone else playing this at the moment?

So far, I'm pretty impressed. I'm a big fan of the first 2 games, and I wasn't sure how it would work out with Bethesda taking over. What got me worried was Oblivion; it was a lot of fun, but after I finished it once I had no desire to play it again.

Anyway, Fallout 3 is basically Oblivion in the Fallout universe. VATS is particularly well done, although sometimes the camera angles can be awkward.

It's still early in the game for me, though, so I'll see if it falls into the same trap of "Huge open ended world, but no point to fully exploring it" that ruined Oblivion for me.

On one hand I think Bethseda handled the game nicely, the detail is immaculate, like Oblivion. I never really had the problem of with the replayability on Oblivion, in fact I just started a new character a few days ago on it, but Fallout 3 is simply amusing.

My complaint would have to be the quick keys on the game, they aren't nearly as quick as they were on Oblivion, and the ridiculously short story, and condensed world. Other than that it's worth a run through.

I enjoyed the VATS system, enjoyed the dialogue, and there is something to be said of a game with hidden mutations waiting to happen.

I finished Fallout 3, and the main quest really sucks.

It's a good game in some ways, but it really falls short in others. I'm playing through it again, and I find that it's a lot more fun when I ignore the main quest. Ever play the first two games?

For me, the problem with Oblivion is that, while there are a million locations to find, most of them aren't really worth finding. A lot of places are basically the same, and all the settlements are too small (and the same issues carried over into FO3). I guess it's just the limit of the technology; if they put in enough NPCs to make it believable, most people's computers would probably explode from trying to process all of it.

Also, the level scaling is annoying. As long as you stay at level 1, you'll eventually be god-like as your skills increase far beyond anything else in the game. If you get to a high level, everything levels with you, and even random bandits in the forest will jump out at you wielding weapons and armor of the gods.

Yeah Im playing Fallout 3 right now. I finished it to the end but didnt like the ending. I saved a lot so instead of finishing the game Im roaming the map exploring leaving the last quest undone. I played all good the first time around. Im going to go back and play it again as an evil person the next time. Should be interesting.
